30th Anniversary of this special Honda

From local flavors to electrifying thrills—Classic Honda’s newest arrivals are ready to take you further!

Hey Honda people! 👋

Welcome back to the Classic Honda Newsletter. Whether you’re a new Honda owner, or a long-time fan, we’re glad to be in your inbox.

Here’s what’s coming up:

  • HSR Classic 24 @ Daytona!

  • Prelude pre-orders are very revealing

  • This special Honda turns 30 years old!

Join us for the HSR Classic 24 at Daytona

Alright, hear me out. It’s not about the nostalgia for old cars. The HSR Classic 24 at Daytona really is something that has to be experienced in person because seeing Le Mans prototypes in person is not something I can put into words. The sheer size of the race wings (if they have one), chonky race tires, and more. What’s not to love?

I don’t care about the era. I care about the thought and time spent by race engineers building these masterpieces akin to the work of a horologist (that’s a clockmaker, for the uninitiated).

For the event itself, expect timed sessions for each separate “class” that each racing legend will be categorized under. This goes on for 24 hours. It’s about the endurance aspect and not so much about breaking land speed records or stuff like that.

If you’re a race nerd like us, sign up! You can get added perks if you’re among the first to RSVP at our car corral after buying tickets.

Demand for 2026 Honda Prelude is 8x more than Honda expected in Japan debut

So we’ve been jabbering about the Honda Prelude for a few months now and believe me, I tried to talk about something else here but c’mon, it’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Every week or so we get even more juicy details about this exciting all-new revival of the iconic Honda Prelude coupe. So you’re wondering what’s new for this week? Well…

How about the Prelude breaking Honda’s expectations in its first month of sales? Honda only expected to move about 300 of these lil go-getters, but instead?

They received over 2,400 orders…..which is about 8x more than what Honda was expecting from their home country.

I can’t even begin to imagine how it’s going to go in America, but people seem to be loving these sporty-looking hybrids overseas. I wish we could get our hands on one already!

America’s Favorite “Comfortable Runabout Vehicle” turns 30!

Congratulations to America’s Favorite Honda, the CR-V! For today’s fun fact, did you know that CR-V is short for “Comfortable Runabout Vehicle”? Thank goodness, nobody actually calls it that in daily conversation.

Which CR-V generation looks the best?

Going all the way back to October 1995 in Sayama, Japan, the original CR-V was built by borrowing many 6th-gen Honda Civic components (there’s 11 Civic generations, in case you were wondering).

We’e talked many times about what makes Honda special and that’s active listening. You see, by 1990, Honda had already passed Chrysler as the 3rd largest car seller in the States behind only American big dogs, General Motors and Ford. And Honda kept cooking.

By the mid to late 1990s, Honda would continue bringing out new models to a rapidly growing fanbase in America. Some names that you may have heard of before like the

  1. Honda NSX / Acura NSX Supercar (1990)

  2. Odyssey (1995 USA)

  3. CR-V (1995 Japan / 1997 USA)

  4. Insight Hybrid (1999 and first-ever hybrid in US market)

  5. S2000 (1999, introduced as MY00)

But focusing on the Virthday Vehicle here, the CR-V was one of the first “urban SUVs” to hit the road. Nowadays we call them crossover SUVs and every brand sells one, but let’s not take for granted how instrumental the CR-V was in paving the way for more automakers to follow.

We want spacious vehicles but not all of us need to get a massive truck or a third row SUV when we have a smaller family and live in a city, or maybe want to have a convenient vehicle for doing big grocery hauls, or for carrying their musical instruments or soil bags for my house plants, or … — yeah you get it.

Congrats, Comfortable Runabout Vehicle, for successfully avoiding a midlife crisis as you turn 30 while showing no signs of slowing down.

No hair dye here. Only more space and smart Honda tech.
